The Queensland Hand Surgery Society held a scientific evening in July. The guest speaker was Dr David McCombe from Melbourne. Dr McCombe gave excellent presentations of the application of the medial femoral condyle flap which is a free flap raised from the knee. He described the use of this flap in treating otherwise unsalvageable scaphoid fractures. Dr McCombe also spoke on the management of recalcitrant peripheral nerve compression. Dr Cutbush gave the welcoming remarks in his position as President of the society.
