Proximal Humeral Fractures are common injuries. They can cause people significant pain and loss of function if they are not treated effectively.I really enjoyed the course run by Medartis in Sydney a few months ago. One of the strengths of the course was the pre-fractured specimens that Medartis had created for the surgeons to fix in the lab. Once we put the fractures back together we were able to Xray the fixed specimens. As part of the preparation of the specimens they were all scanned with CT after the fractures were created. So we were able to compare the post fixation Xrays back to the pre fixation CT scans which was tremendously valuable in understanding the fracture patterns and how best to fix them.
