I spoke at COMA 2017 (Combined Anaesthetic & Orthopaedic Meeting) in Terrigal NSW today about how to handle complications of Anaesthetic blocks. Fortunately they are exceedingly rare! It was nice to be able to share that when they do occur there are effective nerve transfer surgical techniques that have been developed to deal with many of these serious neurological injuries.Congratulations to my friend and colleague Ed Bateman who organised a diverse & fascinating programme of speakers from Anaesthetic, Orthopaedic & Physician backgrounds with the central theme being improving patient care by changing the way we think about doing things, through thoughtful scientific evaluation of current conventional practice. Bec Fielding, thanks for organising such a terrific conference and for being great company on the trip down.
