Dr Cutbush was invited to be part of the faculty for the Australian Orthopaedic Association Continuing Orthopaedic Education Meeting meeting held in Adelaide in July 2014.The education meeting was a great success. It was attended by Orthopaedic surgeons from around Australia. He gave lectures on:Arthroscopic AC Joint Reconstruction - Acute & Chronic ACJ InjuriesDr Cutbush discussed his work developing and arthroscopic method to perform a Weaver Dunn Chuinard reconstruction of chronic acromioclavicular joint injuries. The technique involves transferring the coracoacromial ligament to the distal end of the clavicle with a bone block to aid fixation and healing of the ligament transfer.A new method for reconstructing acute acromioclavicular joint injuries arthroscopically was presented by Dr Cutbush. This technique combines reconstruction of the coracoclavicular ligaments with reconstruction of the AC joint capsule with anchors placed arthroscopically across the top of the AC joint. The addition of the AC joint capsule reconstruction significantly increases the strength of the arthroscopic repair and has proved very successfulThe Arthroscopic Latarjet Procedure - Anterior & Posterior Bone BlocksThe surgical technique of the arthroscopic latarjet was presented by Dr Cutbush. He went on to discuss his technique of labral repair performed in conjunction with the coracoid bone transfer. This technique restores the anatomy of the shoulder joint with reconstruction of bone defects in the glenoid followed by a repair of the labrum and retightening of the shoulder capsule as required.Dr Cutbush also discussed a method to treat severe posterior shoulder instability with reconstruction of the posterior aspect of the glenoid with a bone block from the iliac crest. The surgery is an arthroscopic technique and combines transfer of the bone block with a labral repair. Initial results have been highly successful.
